Video Conferencing is the act of conducting a conference utilizing technology which allows individuals to broadcast a video transmission rather than be physically present. Video conferencing is hardly a new idea however, it has become much more popular and available with the advancement of the internet and modern day technology.

The obvious advantage that many users see in video conferencing is the ability to conduct meetings and conferences with co-workers, offices, teams and executives who could be across town or across the world. There is no need to be physically present or relocate those individuals. Many companies are hesitant to adapt to and to try new video conferencing technology due to the cost. It is not uncommon for a company to pick a free video conferencing solution to both save money, and to "test" the technology.

Using free video conferencing technology may seem like a harmless way to test out the technology before buying a paid service, it may also provide an appealing approach to solve a problem in a bind and quickly get a video conference started, however that is not the case. While free services such as Skype will provide video conferencing between users they lack many of the necessary tools for the business environment, furthermore they lack security which is of the utmost important when dealing with business matters.

Rather it is a conference with the boss or with a potential client it is important to have a high quality, reliable and secure video conference. Programs that offer free video conferencing such as Skype do provide a video conference room however there is no guarantee of the quality. It is quite typical for services such as Skype to experience downtime which could be a few short minutes or even hours which is not acceptable in a business environment. Furthermore, quality issues and limitations of free conferencing services can be tedious.

Free video conferencing services are generally overcrowded with users due to their free nature. The companies that host these services rely on advertisements to support the servers they use to provide the video conference and therefore they are often less than adequate. Video conferences hosted on free solutions may loose video, audio, experience clipping, lagging and a wide array of other quality problems that can make the meeting both unprofessional and cumbersome leading to a drop in rapport between individuals or clients.

Quality issues aside, free video conferencing services are often hosted on insecure servers and networks to reduce costs. This may not seem like a threat however in the business world security is typically everything and on a free video conference security is something that is not promised nor guaranteed.

Large businesses have constant and ongoing management team difficulties. One of the reasons for this is that these businesses refuse to use the technology that has been placed before them, for fear of price or fear of change. In today's technology driven world, using video conferencing - as well as other team business management techniques, should constantly be employed. With this type of technology - and what it can do for your business, you will constantly save money, as well as be more efficient.

The World Wide Web has made so many things available to people at the click of a button. Basically anything you want or need is just a quick search, or a few clicks of the mouse button away. Since the web is so accessible, why not conduct your business meetings and other business related issues right online. There are several applications that allow for videoconference calling and online meetings. This will allow you to conduct meetings in a timely manner, as well as conduct meetings with contacts and businesses that are out of state or out of the country. More importantly, you will save a ton of money on travel expenses and other meeting set-up fees. Many applications are free. The most popular one is probably "Skype."

There are also fast and cost-friendly ways to share your work and documents online. You are able to present presentations, share documents, spreadsheets, drawings and other business related forms, all in real-time. This in turn will allow you to gain customers and make connections with other businesses. Since you are doing this in real-time, there is no wait involved. If a customer asks you to see some sort of document or presentation, you can share it with them right away. This is an excellent way to collaborate on jobs with other clients and businesses. Best of all, many of these type of applications are free. One of the best ones is Google Docs.

If you are looking to use video conferencing in a different way, then why not create business podcasts for your teams to follow. Of you are heading up a geographically dispersed team of people, and you are finding it difficult to get everyone together at the same time, then create a podcast. You can create a podcast of instructions and/or requirements of what you expect every team member to deliver. Post the podcast and allow every team member to watch the podcast when time allows. This will allow everyone to be on the same page, even if you are unable to have a meeting at the same time.

You can see that using technology for geographically dispersed business teams can be cost efficient, as most of these applications are either free or very low cost.

In today's business world, a working group or team does not always constitute a group of people in the same physical location. For the team to have optimum efficiency, there must be constant collaboration and as much personal communication as possible. Often, a team working on a project consists of members who may be in different departments, different offices, and sometimes different cities. To ensure there is synergy on the team and maximum communication between team members, frequent personal interaction needs to occur and sometimes that can be difficult when team members are dispersed. There are a number of tools that are used for collaboration to substitute for physical proximity. Conference calling has been a longtime collaborative tool for meetings with remote members, and instant messaging is a great tool to keep in touch with specific associates. There are also a myriad of presentation software tools that enable one presenter to project a presentation to audience members anywhere in the world with internet connectivity. Most of these implements are sufficient to carry out most of the tasks required to complete the job but collaboration requires more than completing tasks.

Though all of the above tools are excellent accessories for collaboration, they all lack the personal touch often needed for the ultimate fulfillment of team harmony. More and more companies are moving towards video conferencing to achieve complete collaboration. Next to physically assembling the group in the same room, video conferencing, sometimes called teleconferencing, is the next best thing. This enables all members of the meeting to view each other on a computer screen, often projected on to a large screen. The video conference usually includes both video and audio and the team can interact with each other during the meeting and a more cohesive spirit prevails.

For the video conference to be effective it must have excellent quality, and that means that both the equipment must be sufficient and there must be enough bandwidth so that neither the audio nor the video portion of the video conference breaks up or breaks down. Because a poor quality video conference is more frustrating than not having the meeting at all, it is necessary to purchase the required elements to make this happen. Several vendors offer good video conferencing hardware, and most service providers can have bandwidth reserved for the duration of the video conference.

Bandwidth for video conferencing should be both sufficient and reserved because audio and video require not only low delay but also low jitter which means variance of delay, in other words any delay at all must be consistent. Longer delay for some packets and shorter delay for other packets during transmission will cause choppiness that is similar to a bad cell phone video where movement is not fluid. Bandwidth management companies can provide users with bandwidth management hardware but they must be placed at each location and can be rather expensive for just this application. Requesting bandwidth management through the service provider is a less expensive option.

Online video conferencing has grown to be a more important part of business communication over the course of the last decade. This system of connection multiple video chats throughout the country has changed the way business is conducted. With more people able to attend meetings than ever before, new ideas are processed quicker, changes are delivered more efficiently and information is passed on from business to business at the quickest rate possible. New upgrades in technology have helped to turn this form of communication into an even better, more efficient experience. High definition video conferencing is making the entire experience more comprehensive.

High definition video conferencing offers users crystal clear picture and sound. With no stall time, or fuzzy pictures, this form of video conferencing has far surpassed previous types. Thanks to this improved picture and sound quality, companies are now able to cut out expensive travel and wasteful time spent dealing with dropped connections of faulty video conference programs. These online conferences offer real time, face-to-face meetings that almost make employees forget that they are far apart. This form of communication is based on the same ideas and processes of regular video conferencing.

The difference is in the quality of the sound and images that are transmitted. High definition video conferencing allows participants to receive and send the highest quality picture possible. There are no pixilated, or blurry pictures being sent with this technology. The audio is perfectly synched with no echoes or inaudible noises. Typically, high definition video conferencing is sent using hi-spec cameras and high definition flat screen televisions, making the entire experience much more enjoyable and sophisticated. Other benefits of high definition video conferencing include the ability to share documents, presentations and other multimedia technologies.

This form of video conferencing surpasses all other types of video conference. Using high definition not only provides a better overall experience, it also provides a more professional, business like atmosphere for companies. Struggling with faulty equipment and poor pictures and audio can reflect poorly on companies, which is especially harmful when these video conferences are being used with prospective clients.

While there are many free services to use on the internet, the quality is poor. Paying for the best possibly quality one can get is worth it. It saves money on travel and airfare and it also helps to showcase the company in a positive light. With this traveling time being cut out, the company is also benefiting from more hours focused on actual work. Using this form of communication ultimately provides businesses with many benefits. Not only do businesses receive top quality technology, but they are also able to address issues more efficiently.

Imagine the possibilities if you could turn your "home office" into a Virtual Office where you could see and hear your visitors, communicate with video, audio and text, share files, share your desktop, share a browser, show a power point presentation or a Live Show!

VoIP Conferencing, also known as Video Web Conferencing, can really help you expand your online business. Video web conferencing is technology that enables a person, business or group to put together live online conferences, presentations, training, meetings, and seminars (also known as webinars). These conferences are viewed and participated in by people on their own home or office computers. VoIP web video conferencing often includes software that allows you to share documents and applications with participants, share what is on your computer desktop, view live video, view recorded video, listen to live audio, watch slide show presentations, and even have group participation in live chatting or online white-boarding.

So here are the top 5 benefits for implementing video web conferencing in your business:

1) Increases Employee Productivity

Top industry analysts at Wainhouse Research agree that video web conferencing allows employees to get more work done faster and more efficiently. They can share ideas and information instantly online, quicker than meeting in-person, have the ability to include more people in the discussion, so decisions can be made much faster. This helps companies keep their competitive edge and ultimately adds to their bottom line.

2) Saves time

In the fast-paced, global world of business, it's important for employees to have the option of meeting online if they can't physically get to a meeting or to the office. Especially if they have a sick child or are caring for an elderly parent. Also, meeting online eliminates the downtime and hassle of getting to a meeting across town or even in another building. No more interruptions of work when you have an afternoon meeting. It will also boost morale and decrease key employee turnover as you provide more flexibility in the workplace. Happy employees waste less time, get more work done, and increase your bottom line.

3) Cut travel costs

Video web conferencing drastically cuts business travel costs. The average cost for a meeting for 10 people (including airfare, hotel, car rental and/or transportation, meals, entertainment, and tips) is $15,949. The cost of unlimited meetings online is $79 per month. That's a 94% cost savings! Plus, video web conferencing makes it easy for anyone, anywhere to attend training sessions, sales meetings, supplier meetings, etc. Employees will appreciate not having to be away from their families for days at a time. Or the extra cost and stress of traveling from one location to another.

4) Improve Relations

Employees can keep in closer contact with both customers and co-workers online. This speeds up the communication process because no longer do you have to email large files back and forth. You can go over important documents online together just like you would in person. The more you keep in contact with your customers to come up with helpful solutions to their concerns - the more profitable the relationship will be to your bottom line.

5) And lastly...You will save money by greening up your business!

Did you know that the average American worker spends an average of 47 hours per year commuting through rush hour traffic? By meeting online instead, you will be cutting down on thousands of pounds of carbon monoxide pollution every year. It's really important for companies to be good stewards of the environment and not compromise your responsible company image.

Looking to buy a video phone? It can be tough there is lots of information out there and you could end up paying too much.

By definition a videophone means A telephone equipped for both audio and video transmission.

For some though it means much more. It mean you can see and hear you family. If you work full time or are divorced or a busy executive jetting round the globe - a video phone can become the best way to remain in touch and to 'see' your kids, friends and loved ones.

Imagine being able to say goodnight to your child or read them a quick bedtime story while you are at work or on business interstate. Priceless!

I set about the seek out the best deal and I don't mean just price. There are other important factors:

1. Customer Service - being responsive and quick to answer questions i had about the video phone was important because I know that their customer service would be good.

2. Price - I didn't want to pay anymore than $200. I had a budget and I wanted to stick to it and not be pressured into buying add-ons or application I didn't need.

3. I wanted it to be portable - I was not always at home or in the office I was often of business trips and working remotely so I needed to be able to take it with me. Otherwise what's the use?

I had some good and some bad experiences. Video phones from Doss 7 were good but even half price were $250+. Leadtik was exactly what I wanted but was over twice what i wanted to spend. The video phone I ended up buying was from a well known company and within my budget and because of the fact that their customer service was excellent. The phone had exactly the features I wanted without being too technical and I appreciated the customer service person being focused on my satisfaction rather than making a sale which was refreshing. I could take the phone anywhere and plug it in and if someone called my local number they would come through to the phone. Groovy!

I found finding the best video phone was a little frustrating but if you focus on customer service you can't go wrong.

How can one make a seminar more interesting? Using conference call services to enable direct interaction with renowned professionals and famous personages is one way of doing that.

When you want to learn about another country it would be wonderful to be able to speak directly with somebody from there and listen to their experiences. It would definitely make studying much more fun and interesting if students can get live information.

Seminars are not always academic or pedantic, and many are in fact a means by which companies market new products in order to increase their profits. Organizing a seminar poses many challenges in terms of logistics, particularly if it involves videoconferencing.

Utilizing the efforts of somebody well known to market your product or service can be very effective in conducting a seminar for your targeted audience. Your potential customers can interact with this person from anywhere around the world just by using conference calls. With conference call services there is no extra expense for anyone, the host just has to be online at the allotted time and then the seminar can begin.

Regardless of the product in question, live demonstrations are sure to raise sales figures. Such live demonstrations can be conducted through the use of videoconferencing, with the demonstration being carried out on-screen for viewers. Offering those viewers who attend your seminars free gifts or prizes if they make a purchase is an excellent method of enticing more viewers to purchase your product.

A videoconferencing seminar should not last longer than two hours because it will be very easy for your audience to lose interest and, therefore, missing the real reason for the seminar in the first place. An interactive and exciting presentation can be done within an hour. In advance of the seminar, be sure to publish a schedule and create a new brochure and distribute these documents to the participants of the seminar. In addition, have any other material on hand that you may require at any time during the seminar.

Having a well-organized attendance will help to make the seminar run more smoothly. By confirming your participants in advance you can then arrange the seating plan with additional materials on each seat. By labelling each seat with their name will make it easier for them to know where to sit when they arrive. Be sure that the labels are large enough so people can see them from afar. This will help in lessening any confusion when everybody is trying to get settled and prepare for the seminar.

The experts whom you engage to make an appearance during your seminar are of the utmost importance to the success of your seminar. So you should always make arrangements with them early. This way, if they are unable to attend, you have ample time to locate and invite someone else. Make your arrangements in detail, including the time and summary of the topic to be discussed and keep in mind the possibility of differing time zones when enlisting foreign speakers.

Conference call services are the latest craze in the world of business. It is basically a form of communication that allows interaction between people who are separated by great distances.

There is some basic equipment needed to make a video conference call such as computer, web cam, microphone and speakers. There are more sophisticated systems on the market consisting of dedicated hardware that allows the user better flexibility and control when making video conference calls.

The technology used for conference call services is hardly recent, and even television sets can be considered a form of video conferencing. This is based on the fact that two closed-circuit televisions that were connected together using a cable would allow the user of each to hold a form of conference call with the other.

The video conferencing industry received the opportunity to revolutionize itself with the advent of new technologies such as ISDN. The marked improvements that have been made in the quality of video conferencing in the past ten years have been responsible, in part, for the ever increasing number of firms that are installing video conferencing equipment as part of their office upgrading.

Internet connections with frame rates of three frames per second have been found to be more than adequate for most users. In addition, large corporations have saved a lot of money by eliminating the need for company travel through the use of video conferencing.

Many companies were spending thousands of dollars on international travel expenses when they needed to send their employees overseas. Now with video conferencing becoming more and more popular, it has offered an alternative to business travel. The need for employees to travel in order to fulfill the obligations of the Head Office is no longer an issue. Conference call services are more effective and a less expensive way than requiring employees to travel overseas.

Employee travel is indisputably expensive. Some of the many costs associated with employee travel are: temporary loss of regular work by the employee, transport costs and accommodation costs. Conference call services have all but removed the need for employee travel and they have saved large amounts of time and money for firms. Presentations no longer need to be given while physically in front of an audience.

In order to establish a facility in your office for the purpose of making conference calls, you must approach either your local telecommunications provider, or one of the many companies specializing in the provision of video conferencing systems to larger firms.

Regardless of whether you want to have a conference with five people or a hundred, video conferencing can make meetings an absolute breeze. Sharing computer desktops and virtual whiteboards mean that video conferences can be as effective as face to face ones. The possibilities for training are also excellent using the latest technology.

Here are some more advantages to video conferencing.

* Video conferencing are far cheaper to run than their real world equivalents. If you were to gather a team from around your country for a meeting, the costs involved can be astronomical. The travel itself (both ways) can cost a lot of money, but for those that travel the furthest distances, there is the additional costs of hotels and meals to contend with. Those people travelling the greatest distances could lose a couple of days in work time as well. Just count that up in terms of unproductive salary payments, and you will soon see cost benefits to video conferences.

* Easy access to information is also a great benefit to video conferences. Most people will have all of their business contacts and information available on their computers. So, if they work from home for the day, everything that they need will be to hand.

* Another major advantage of a video conference is the ease with which people outside of an organisation can join in. Say for example you are involved in building projects, the chances are that a different architect would be used for each project. If your meeting requires the presence of a non employed expert, it is far easier to organise if you are running a video conference rather than a meeting in the flesh.

* It is possible to record video conferences, so that they can be re-run at a later date. This kind of thing can be an invaluable training aid as well, so that your staff can improve presentation skills for example.

* Business decisions can be made more quickly using video conferences. The time saving mentioned previously also helps with this regard. If you need to meet deadlines then having meetings using video conferencing can be a great advantage.

Even a simple comparison to a shared phone call should be enough to convince you that video conferencing makes more sense. Have a visual connection is invaluable, not only from a personal point of view but also to watch body language, which can tell you a lot.

As technology improves, then prices come down. You get better quality video conference for less money. Now is definitely the time to consider moving to video conferencing for your meetings.

Video conferencing has enabled communication to take place among people who are located at different places at the same time, in real time. Its ability to transcend geographical barriers to bring people virtually together in a conference room when used in the office or in a classroom has brought upon tremendous possibilities for knowledge sharing and information dissemination.

Although before video conferencing systems were the norm and the technology was still in its infancy a few years ago, businesses who required people from different places to meet and discuss will employ the use of a speaker phone. The speaker phone is made up of a traditional phone enhanced with loud speaker output and microphones so that it can capture people's voices around the meeting table. However, this solution is not the most optimal solution because businesses found it hard to share any presentation material like presentation slides or meeting materials to the other party on the other end of the line. Moreover, the speaker had no idea what the response is because the speaker phone cannot transfer visual information and a large part of human communication is based on unspoken body language.

All these limitations have been erased with the introduction with the video conferencing systems. The combination of visual information with voice signals make interactions between parties located at different places seamless and easy. It brings about higher levels of communication because people no long have to guess whose voice belongs to who. With video conferencing systems, people at different locations are brought into a virtual meeting space where they can communicate freely about their ideas and even show presentation materials in real time.

This also brings about many kinds of benefits to a business. No longer an employee have to travel to another place just for a meeting. This amounts to huge cost savings for the company because sometimes the meeting can be taking place in a foreign land. Since such meetings are quite frequent, the cost savings from foreign business trips, car rentals, meals and entertainment for its employees quickly adds up and justify the cost of a video conference system which eliminates all these expenses.

With the promised advantage of allowing people from different regions to work together in real time at a low cost is a major selling point for video conferencing systems. No longer will the employees have the need to request special funding for their meeting expenses or the participants sending out meeting invitation to meet at a specific time., video conferencing allows anyone, anywhere to initiate a video conference call to share ideas and discuss issues at the touch of a button. This will undoubtedly, increase brainstorming and knowledge sharing sessions which will in result, increase efficiency and effectiveness for the company.
