If you're a small business, your office phone system is one of your greatest assets as it allows you to communicate within and across teams and with clients easily and efficiently. Unless you have a very small number of staff, you will want to choose a sophisticated office phone system that can improve productivity and enhance customer service.

If you have an underperforming office phone system, and you're constantly putting money into it to get it serviced or repaired, then you should consider investing in a new system.

Here are some tips for choosing the right office phone system.

1. Choose a quality office phone system. Avoid the temptation to save some up-front costs by under-investing in a system. Despite the wide use of the Internet, telephone services continue to be an essential business communication tool. Make sure you invest in a brand-name, reliable system that's going to be able to support your business as it grows.

2. Use existing telephone equipment. A great way to save money on telephone installation costs is to choose a telephone system that is compatible with or can make use of telephone handsets or outlets that you already have.

3. Make a list of telephone features you require in your office telephone system. Features include call waiting, call forwarding, caller ID, call return, call blocking and call trace.

4. Choose telephone accessories. Make a list of telephone extras you may require, such as telephone headsets for employees, so that you can ensure these extras are compatible with your new system.

5. Choose a reputable dealer. Choosing a reputable dealer with positive customer testimonials is vital. When researching your prospective dealers, find out how long they have been in the business, whether they've done jobs for companies or businesses similar in size to yours, and what skills, qualifications or experience the technicians have. Don't be afraid to ask them for information about their customer service track record so you can get an idea of how the company would handle the situation if you had a telephone or equipment emergency.

6. Consider choosing a VoIP office phone system. A VoIP system (or Voice over Internet Protocol) is a new technology that allows people to make calls over the Internet using broadband technology. VoIP has become very popular in recent years because of its relative low cost and ease of use. Call cost is comparable to standard phone lines but the quality of connection is more advanced and reliable. VoIP is often convenient for companies that need to communicate with employees across a number of branches and locations.

7. Consider financing options. Because the installation costs of a new office phone system can be relatively high, be sure to ask your system dealer about any leasing or financing options that may be available if your business's current cash flow is limited. Keep in mind that interest may apply to leasing arrangements, so it may be more cost effective to pay up front. Also, find out if your dealer is willing take away your old office phone system and give you a discount on the new system.

Setting up small business telephone systems is mandatory if you want to make sure your company attains success.Rather than purchasing a conventional phone system, you need to select a phone system with advanced technology. The use of advanced technology will help your company in terms of improving customer service and increasing productivity. No doubt, these phone systems are a bit expensive compared to traditional ones but the benefit they offer in the long run makes up for the high cost.

Until a few years ago selecting small business telephone systems was as easy as picking a photocopier, fax machine or any other item of office equipment. The options available to business were either a key system or small PBX telephone systems.Deciding between these options came down to price, expandability and price. In those days, all PBX telephone systems are employed circuit based TDM technology and the differences between competing brands were not great.Despite their short comings, they were reliable and could be relied on to last for ten years and longer.

A reliable and dependable business telephone system is a necessity for any small business. It is the easiest and the most convenient source of connecting businesses with their clients.Business telephone systems are becoming increasingly popular as they enable small businesses to function and operate like a big corporate business. Many Telecom providers have begun to provide businesses with telecommunication systems that were originally only used by big corporations,at affordable prices.

PBX stands for Private Branch Exchange, the telephone switching equipment resides within the organization rather than the public telephone company. The PBX also connects you to the public switched telephone network. The users of the PBX phone system share a number of outside lines for making external phone calls. It works on the assumption that in any office, there is only a fraction of people in the office, using the phone at any one time.Sharing fewer phone lines (or bandwidth);mean phone service costs you less.No worries, the PBX telephone system manages the whole process.A PBX phone system can effectively manage all your incoming and outgoing calls at a much lower price.

Finally, one thing we need to remember that every small business must concentrate on customer service. These small business telephone systems provide businesses with a sophisticated interface, giving clients the impression that they are dealing with a larger business. There are some well established and experienced manufacturers of these business telephones,PBX telephones are selling these items through online.

What type of telephone do I choose?

When deciding what type of telephone to choose for the home it can be quite a confusing thing. I'm not saying this because the technology is so complicated it is hard to understand what to buy. Mainly it is so complicated because there are so many phones to choose from. There are hundreds if not thousands of brands and models to choose from, so how do I know which home phones right for me?

One of the first things to do when choosing your home phone is to find out whether you want a corded or cordless model. If you do go with a cordless phone don't forget it does need to be connected to a power supply to work. Unfortunately I made the mistake of buying a cordless without checking I had power socket next to the phone line. This does also means that if you have a cordless phone it is best to have a cheap corded phone as a back up. If you didn't you wouldn't be able to make emergency calls on your home phones landline if the power failed.

The good thing about cordless phones is that you can purchase extra handsets and put them in different rooms. That means if you had a cordless phone with two handsets you could put one in the living room, and the other one upstairs in your bedroom. As the phones work wirelessly it also means you don't have to route telephone cable around the home either. In more recent years cordless phone technology has improved and phones have better clarity and reliability. However the biggest reason cordless phones use in the home has increased is that the cost has come down dramatically.

Whether it is corded or cordless there will be plenty of models that have different facilities and features on them. What your best of doing before you look for your home phone is have a think of what features you really need. For example do you want a handsfree speaker, LCD screen, speed dial buttons, phone book, mute facility, or headset compatibility? Doing this will stop you purchasing a home phone with too many complicated features, or even worse one that doesn't do what you need it too.

Even though this phone is going to be used in the home a lot of people now work from there as well. This has led to a large increase in IP or VOIP phones being purchased, so calls can be made over the internet. It is even possible to get telephones now that can handle both internet IP calls, and your normal land line calls too.

Finally if you are buying home phones you're going to want them to look good and suit your style. Even if you are looking for something retro and old fashioned there are modern phones shaped to look just like that. Whole arrays of colours are available and even novelty phones shaped as a Stiletto is available. There are even brands such as Jacob Jensen which are dedicated to producing stylish models that look good, as long as that's your taste of course!!

Home Phones – What are your options

Ever since the telephone was first invented in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell people have been looking to put phones in the home. It’s a way of communicating with the outside world and being able to keep in touch with your friends and family. One of BT’s most well known phrases is “Its good to Talk” and it is very hard to disagree. Even if it just a simple telephone in case of an emergency, home phones in the modern day world are very important.

There is now a huge choice of different telephone service provider’s people can choose from. Companies such as BT, Virgin, NTL, Sky, and Talk Talk to name just a few are some of the options available. As well as the traditional standard telephone lines many people now have broadband lines in the home as well. However the good thing about this is both standard lines and broadband lines take the same standard analogue phones.

As well as the telephone line there are also a number of different services that can be added as well. Some of these range from caller display, call waiting, call diversion, and call barring, so it is important your home phones are compatible. For example there is no point paying for the caller display service on your home phone line, if your telephone doesn’t even show it.

If you go back about 10 or 15 years most people had corded phones in the home. However nowadays as costs go down and technology improves, cordless phones are very popular. One of the problems with using corded phones is that each telephone needed to be plugged into a phone socket. With cordless phones users can locate extra handsets in more than one room, and as they are wireless they don’t need to be connected to the phone line.

One of the biggest changes to modern day life is that a lot of people now work from home, instead of going to an office. This means a lot of manufacturers are creating phones that can accept either more than one phone line, or make and receive calls over the internet. To make a telephone call over the internet you need a VOIP or IP compatible phone, as well as a broadband line. Users can then use the same home phones to make and receive both business and personal calls.

When choosing your home phones there are a variety of different features available to select from. Phones with name and number directories can store all your friends details, stopping the need of filling a contacts book full of numbers. Some phones even have built in handsfree so you can have a conversation without lifting the handset. Personally though I just use this feature to dial the number I want to call and lift the handset when someone answers.

In more recent years mobile phones have become very popular and the number of people using home land lines has dropped. This is not only because most people have there mobile at all times, but contracts offer free minutes so the calls are free. However to access the internet you need a telephone line connected so people do still buy home phones. As well as this the call quality on a mobile call is no where near as good as using a normal home phone land line.

It is hard to argue that a virtual phone service can bring big benefits to any company who chooses to use one. Such a service is a very affordable way to bring very powerful telecommunication features to an otherwise average phone service. There are some features that you might want to consider before you decide which service is right for you.

Take the following features under consideration as you compare the available virtual phone service providers:

1. Plan minutes - Every virtual phone service plan comes with a given amount of included minutes. Generally there are plans that offer different amounts of included minutes, to suit varying needs. Additional minutes can be purchased, but the cost will varying between services.

2. Rollover plan minutes - A few of the better virtual phone service providers give you the ability to take unused plan minutes from one month and use them in a latter month. This allows you to carry over minutes you didn't use in one month to a future month in which your phone usage might be more than the included number of minutes.

3. Voice mail capability - A voice mail system with full features is a must when you are selecting a virtual phone service. For the times that someone is not available to take a message, there should be a voice mail box for each person or department. You should have the ability to change the greeting for every mail box and configure the way you get notified when a mail box has a new message.

4. Auto attendant - A virtual auto attendant should automatically answer inbound calls and figure out where they should be routed. Generally this is done with a automated menu system in which the caller chooses the appropriate extension. This ensures that calls get to the appropriate person, without a real person having to get involved.

5. Free trial period - Keep a look out for the better services that offer a trial period. This gives you a chance to fully explore the features of a given virtual phone service and help you decide if the particular service is the one for you.

While there may be several virtual phone services to choose from, you have to make sure that you pick one that offers the right combination of features and affordability. By comparing services before you commit to one, you are making sure you have a long and happy relationship with the provider you ultimately choose.

Magic Jack is a VOIP application and is unlike the way the usual telephone functions. The VOIP service has other names like broadband telephony, IP telephony or a voice service utilizing the greater bandwidth for enabling calls to be made. Voice gets relayed through the web space, when a USB apparatus is attached to the USB port of the personal computer. You can make local and out city calls by gearing up your computer to do so through a software which downloads by itself and this happens when you connect the Magic Jack into the USB port of your computer.

The primary requirement to enable Magic Jack to function is broadband internet. Magic Jack functions even with your standard land-line phone for making calls and that is a good thing. With Magic Jack, there is no obligation to provide for headsets or wonder about the PC acoustics.

Magic Jack offers you free voice mail services and obviates the need to have a answering machine on your land-line phone. Magic Jack does not require discarding the answering machine on hand despite its voice mail service. You will not miss any calls as the system informs you through email any such voice mail messages that have been recorded. Magic Jack enables caller ID phones to work equally well. Another great feature that you can enjoy taking Magic Jack with you is the facility of making gratis calls to any destination in US or Canada when you are away from home on a tour.

Practical Guidelines

You need to verify that you have not set a "Do Not Disturb" on your Magic Jack telephone panel to avoid the problem of Magic Jack not ringing on an incoming call. You also have to detach your Magic Jack connection at least once in a month to ensure it keeps functioning well. This can be done by first disconnect the device, restarting the computer and then connecting it back into the USB port of the computer.

One needs to choose one definite date every month to carry out this method. Avoid a couple of the routine snags developing in the working of the Magic Jack by implementing the solutions given above.Magic Jack has created a revolution in the VOIP product space and is outstripping sales of other products everyday due to its excellent product and services.

Cool Cell Phones Ring Tones

Let's face it, you could have the best cell phone in the world but without the right ring tones, it will never qualify in the unique class of cool cell phones. No cell phone would be complete without the ability to play cool ring tones or for that matter any MP3.

While it is true that a cool cell phone is supposedly a device for communication, this eventually takes a back seat to the many features that one cannot live without on their cell phone.

Everyone needs a cell phone with as many great features as possible, if it can only play polyphonic tones, it is probably prehistoric.

To think, it used to be that the only music you would have on your cell phone was that of a monophonic ring tone.

Soon after, polyphonic became all the rage, and people were looking for cool phones that could play MP3s. Now their choice of ring tones and music was virtually unlimited.

At first switching from mono to polyphonic was more expensive for the consumer. The switch created huge demand for the new phones and fierce rivalry to have the latest and best ring tones around.

Who would have ever predicted 10 years ago, that the humble cell phone would turn in to the full on multi media devices that we have today?

Sure, service providers may play a big part in the choice of a cell phone, but what plays an even more pivotal role is the ability for the most amount of features at the lowest rates.

If you are happy to sign up for and be locked in to a contract for some time, you will get to have the choice of all the latest cell phones for virtually nothing.

If you have yourself a USB cable, you can download any song you want on to your cell. It's anyone's guess what the next big step forward will be in cell phone technology.

What does it matter which part of the world one is in? It is so easy to keep in touch with one's family, or even with employees and employers! Long distance telecommunications has made everything so easy and possible! Any distance can be tackled with ease with the miraculous telephone! Only care should be taken to avoid building up exorbitant bills afterwards.

We tend to forget how amazing it is that you can now telephone long distance to anywhere in the world. International direct dial (IDD), enabling effective person-to-person calling, is now available in almost all countries. A small minority still require an operator to you connect you, but these are rare. This service is generally available from almost any public payphone, resident phone, mobile phone or hotel phone in the world. It is worth bearing in mind however, if you use IDD to telephone long distance, that it could be an expensive option, and may not always be available.

Far better than one calling up people from hotels, is to ask family members and others to call up instead. This is because hotels put a high price on long distance telephone calls. Sometimes the telephone bill equals the rent of the room. A few hotels do inform their guests about calling charges in advance; many do not. It is their way of making a dual profit!

One of your best bets is to use some sort of card phone when trying to telephone long distance, and there are several different types. Prepaid phone cards are fairly straight forward, where you can use them to call from any phone, provided that you call the phone company first with your provided pin number, and then you enter the number that you wish to call. Once you dial the number you wish to call, the total value of the call is deducted from the cash value of the card. Such cards are convenient and have the big advantage that you know exactly what you can spend in advance to telephone long distance; but generally speaking, cards must be bought in the country of use and are not transferable.

Many phone cards have different rates to telephone long distance, so it is best to check which ones are the most reasonable for your country of destination. And with the phone cards, beware: cheaper rates may sometimes mean hidden charges by the card, either through charging you for your operator phone call or charging a higher connection fee.

If you do not want to opt for prepaid cards cards or coins, you could even go in for the credit card system. Credit cards can be used to pay for phone calls. There is a catch here. The method may be very convenient to use, but the connection charges themselves are high, leave alone later ones. These are meant to be used only for emergencies. And an airport is the last place to use a credit card phone!

Try to avoid to telephone long distance through collect calling, unless there is absolutely no alternative. These are extremely expensive. Ultimately, deciding on how you would like to telephone long distance may require some research and a little investigating, but could save you a lot of money in the long run when you are on the road.
