Rango Movie From Gore Verbinski

Verbinski cleared up some plot details. Rango (Depp) is a pet chameleon who lives inside a terrarium. “He’s a thespian searching for an audience,” says Verbinski. “He’s produced friends with the inanimate objects in his terrarium — he calls them all by name. And when we meet him, he’s in the process of putting on a play with the various objects.” Verbinski then alluded to Roadkill, an armadillo voiced by Alfred Molina: “Roadkill’s run over as part of the origin of Rango’s demise, where his terrarium is thrust from his automobile, and he results in the desert.”

Through a bizarre set of circumstances, Rango winds up at a town called Dirt, which is populated by a variety of Mojave Desert wildlife. “This town is truly hungry for a hero, and they get the fantastic pretender,” says Verbinski. “Rango has to ultimately comprehend the distinction between pretending and what’s real.” The director also mentioned that Rango, as an aquatic creature desperately looking for hydration, ironically finds himself getting involved inside a Chinatown-esque water subplot.

Already Rango comes off as an animated movie with a lot more substance on its mind and much more tricks up its sleeve than most. And how Verbinski went about recording his characters’ voices was a departure for an animated film. Typically, actors perform their lines alone in a recording studio. But instead, Verbinski gathered his entire cast — including Depp, Timothy Olyphant, Abigail Breslin, Bill Nighy, Isla Fisher, Ray Winstone, and Harry Dean Stanton — and had them act out the whole film inside a studio during a 20-day shoot. Utilizing a limited amount of props, sets, and costumes, the actors repeatedly tackled their scenes while video cameras recorded their performances.

“It’s not motion capture — we call it emotion-capture,” says Verbinski. “I didn’t want to quit the methods that have been developed in shooting live action, in which you try to optimize the possibility of capturing the awkward moment — the moment exactly where things aren’t cerebral or manufactured. Every thing in an animated movie is manufactured. There aren't any accidents. So we have been attempting to encourage a kinetic, raw spark to the audio track.” Verbinski showed us some of this footage, and naturally, the view of Johnny Depp pretending to become a heroic cowboy lizard is simultaneously amusing and slightly disturbing.

The majority of us just adore watching a first-class horror movie once in a while. Others just love to get together often on a Saturday night and do an horror night until dawn only with their favourite horror movies.
We all have our favorite horror movie or our top five best horror movies, and here is mine. You may not agree with this top five but that is something obvious as we all have different opinions.

I would probably give the first place to the movie Psycho, the masterpiece by the famous Hitchcock that came out at the beginning of the sixties. Even if is a fairly different movie compared to other horror movies, it surely scared some of us to leave us with a strange feeling that only a few movies did.

The Exorcist would definitely be my second choice in this top five. The actors played really well in this film that was made at the beginning of the seventies by William Friedkin. Some of the scenes in this movie have become cult and especially the bedroom scene with the priest. The other scary thing about this movie is that it is inspired from a real case that happened in a Washington suburb.

The shinning has to be in the top three. All of these three films could be top really. This masterpiece directed by Stanley Kubrick in the nineteen eighties. Jack Nicholson is just amazingly scary in this adaptation of a Stephen King’s novel.

The fourth place in this top five would go to The Texas Chainsaw massacre. Considered as one of the best horror movies ever, it was first released in the middle of the seventies and was very successful in the United States. Some censorship boards like in Australia, Sweden, Iceland or the United Kingdom banned it for some time which prevented an even bigger success.

I know you are probably going to laugh at me but I would put the movie Jaws in the fifth place. There is not much blood in this movie but it really traumatized a whole generation. Some of us still probably think about the movie when they go to the beach for a swim.

The 2010 Cannes film festival has finally come to an end with its surprises and discoveries.
Like all the past editions of the film festival, the awards given have brought many critics and film lovers to talk a lot and either applaud or criticize the awarded films.

We could say that there were roughly around nine different categories in the competition in this Cannes film festival divided between the feature films on one side and the short films on the other side.
There are also other categories that are not as well known as the other listed above and which are not in the “in competition” group. You will find the golden camera, the cinefondation prize which includes three prizes, and the “un certain regard” group which also gives three types of prizes.

But let’s only focus on the “in competition” section which surely is the one we hear the most of.
This year, the golden palm was awarded to a movie called “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives” which was directed by a Thai. It seems that this is the kind of movie that you either like or hate and many people have given various comments on it. I guess it is better to watch this movie if you want to make your own opinion on it.
The “Grand Prix” award was this year given to a French movie called “Of gods and men” which related the terrible faith of monks living in the Maghreb.
The award for the best director was given to Mathieu Amalric for the movie “On tour”, while the award for the best screenplay was given to a South Korean movie called “Poetry”.
It is interesting to notice that the award for best actress was given to Juliette Binoche in film called “Certified copy” which was directed by an Iranian. We have heard a lot about this movie because of its director who is apparently opposed to the Iranian government.
