Stunning facts regarding the water we use. Studies have been done that conclude there are over 2100 different toxins in our water. It is possible that showering or bathing in this water allows us to obsorb more toxins than by drinking it. Two-thirds of the harmful effects of chlorine are absorbed when bathing. Almost every home in America has chloroform gas in the air according to the U.S EPA.

This is just Chlorine. Other concerns can be just as great and just as harmful as chlorine. There are heavy metals such as zinc, lead , mercury, copper, cadmium, arsenic and other that taken over time all have an accumulative effect on the body. All of the ingestion ads up and has a negative effect on the body.

We have not eve mentioned new recognition of a problem that has actually existed for years in municipalities :prescription drugs in the water means that you are essentially drinking a soup of growth hormones, antibiotics, psychiatric drugs, and even narcotics.

Municipalites are especially vulnerable to pesticides runoff. Fertalizers and weed killer abound from almost every lawn. Al of these chemical combined into the "melting pot" of the body can mix with each other and make some brand new dangerous chemicals.

Hard water by itself is really the least of our problems as far as our health is concerned. There is of course the concern for the water pipes and appliances where we live, our water heater suffering the most under hard water.

After being presented with such a plethera of potential problems in our water one has to ask "what can
I do to protect myself and my family?" The solution is clearly in whole house water filtration. The
problems of harmful effects of contaminated and hard water can be easily releveled by the the installation of a whole house water purification unit at the point of entry to the home.

The home owner will find this solution the easiest overall. It has superior advantages over point of use
filters for the kitchen for example. The filter units themselves will last much longer and often the filter elements are superior to counter top or under the sink units.

Many times people are confused about water filtration and water softening. Water softeners actually are one form of water filtration. They filter out the heavy concentrations of minerals. Complete water filtration or whole house water filtration also includes removing the hard water elements. Those elements that make up the scale deposits on pipes and appliances.

Most often in rual areas water softeners can be used as the source is well water and does not have a high concentration of contaminants. To find out if the water supply has contaminant the results of water test should be obtained. In rural areas the well water is usually tested at the well source. For municipalites
test should be offered for free from the municipality. Simply contacting the municipality and requesting
a test result should be enough to get the results.
